I want this tattoo off!

The tattoo that seemed like a great idea at the time, becomes the one thing that has to come off!

Every week we consult with clients who want to have a now-ex-boyfriend/girlfriend’s name or animal paw-prints removed.  Some company policies forbid visible body tattoos or in some cases the work has been poorly performed and now needs to be removed before re-doing the work with an experienced, qualified artist…
This is where tattoo removal comes into its own.

It must be noted that the chemical extraction methods are not for all tattoos though – and clients looking to have large tattoos removed should bear in mind that this process is much better suited to removing smaller areas.

Here is a case that we would like to feature.

Case Study 1

In our first case study, our client is a young woman in her mid-thirties who simply got tired of these ladybugs on her feet.

Tattoos to be removed

As these tattoos are really small, this is a simple procedure.  Due to the feet being an extremity of the body, feet typically tend to swell as the body’s normal defence mechanism kicks in – it is therefore important to keep the feet elevated as often as is practically possible.

Here you see the procedure in action:

A topical anaesthetic is applied to ensure our client’s comfort.
Great care is taken not to overwork the area.

Within a few weeks, a scab forms effectively ‘pulling’ the ink out of the skin as it dries and heals:

The redness surrounding the scabs is perfectly normal – simply the body expelling the ink via the macrophage process (white blood cells).

Within 4 months our client’s skin is completely healed with minimal scarring present – a satisfactory result indeed!
This procedure was performed together with Nadine Wiggett from Nadine’s Health & Skin Care in Bothasig, Cape Town.

Case Study 2

Fact is that not all permanent makeup procedures are performed by properly trained artists.  In this case study, our client is a young woman in her late twenties.  She was about to be getting married and was desperate to get rid of the eyeliner that had slipped and gone skew.  Our hearts went out to this lovely girl when we consulted with her and we agreed to assist.

It must be emphasised that this removal method is certainly NOT suitable for all botched permanent makeup.  In this case however, given our extensive experience in this field, we were confident of a great outcome.

Here we have the same young lady 4 months later – after 2 removal sessions – no scars and a significant improvement in her appearance:

The bottom line?
Please do your homework thoroughly before deciding who to trust to perform your permanent makeup procedures and never ever bargain shop your face!

If you have a small tattoo that you are considering having removed, we would be happy to set up your consultation appointment:
